Summary: 

In order to obtain a teacher license in the state of Alaska, applicants must earn a bachelor's degree, complete an approved teacher preparation program, and pass required exams.

Body: 

The department will issue a professional teacher certificate, valid for five years, to an applicant who has (a) met the requirements of this section for an initial teacher certificate (b) passed the competency examination by achieving qualifying scores and (c) passed a Praxis II content area examination by attaining the score set out for the appropriate examination. They also must have completed three semester hours in Alaska studies and three semester hours in multicultural education or cross cultural communications.
