Summary: 

For both types of Georgia professional teaching certificates, standard and performance-based, there are different requirements for licensure renewal.

Body: 

1. The Performance-Based Professional teaching certificate may be renewed by meeting the following requirements:
(i) Satisfy professional learning requirements as outlined in GaPSC Rule 505-2-.36 RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS;
(ii) Meet Special Georgia Requirements (See GaPSC Rule 505-2-.24 SPECIAL GEORGIA REQUIREMENTS);
(iii) Have earned a minimum of two (2) "Proficient" or "Exemplary" TKES annual performance ratings within five (5) years of the renewal date.
(iv) Have the employing Georgia LUA request the certificate renewal according to procedures outlined in GaPSC Rule 505-2-.27 CERTIFICATION APPLICATION PROCEDURES. This requirement does not apply to renewal of professional certificates held by educators who have at least one (1) year of acceptable educator experience in a Georgia LUA, as outlined in GaPSC Rule 505-2-.25 EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS, paragraph (3)(a)1, while holding a valid Georgia renewable, professional certificate.

2. The Standard Professional teaching certificate may be renewed by meeting the following requirements:
(i) Satisfy professional learning requirements as outlined in GaPSC Rule 505-2-.36 RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS;
(ii) Meet applicable Special Georgia Requirements (See GaPSC Rule 505-2-.24 SPECIAL GEORGIA REQUIREMENTS); and
(iii) Have the employing Georgia LUA request the certificate renewal according to procedures outlined in GaPSC Rule 505-2-.27 CERTIFICATION APPLICATION PROCEDURES. This requirement does not apply to renewal applications submitted prior to July 1, 2015, or renewal of professional certificates held by educators who have at least one (1) year of acceptable educator experience in a Georgia LUA, as outlined in GaPSC Rule 505-2-.25 EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS, paragraph (3)(a)1, while holding a valid Georgia renewable, professional certificate.
