Summary: 

In order to become a certified teacher in Virginia, an applicant must pass the Virginia Communication & Literacy test, the Praxis II. However for applicants pursuing certification as a Reading Specialist, in Early/Primary preK-3, Elementary Education preK-6, or a variety of Special Education areas a Reading Assessment is also required to pass.

In order to obtain a Virginia teaching license, an applicant must meet, but is not always limited to, the following requirements: must have at least a BA Degree, completed a Virginia approved education program, and received passing scores on the required assessments. All state licenses are accepted.
