Hawaii - Student Assessments: Science
The Hawaii State Assessments (HSA) are criterion-referenced assessments that are administered to students in grades 3 - 8 and 10. Criterion-referenced proficiency level scores are reported at the end of each school year and these scores are used to determine a school's Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP). Students in grades 4, and 8, and high school students enrolled in Biology I also take the HSA in Science. The Biology I assessment is an End-of-Course exam administered during the final three (3) weeks of the course.
