The English Language Arts Program guides the framework for curricular and instructional practices in Reading and Language development in English across all content areas from kindergarten through the 12th grade, preparing students to be successfully literate in the 21st- century. The curricular thrust is directed by the Common Core Standards and are adapted accordingly based on school resources and student needs. Students who meet these standards readily undertake the close, attentive reading that is at the heart of understanding and enjoying complex works of literature. Additionally, students will habitually perform the critical reading necessary to pick carefully through the staggering amount of information available today in print, digital and in multimedia formats.
