State law requires a health screening prior to entry (which may or may not specifically include vision, hearing, dental, or BMI exams).

(a) Every pupil enrolled in a school district or an accredited nonpublic school shall be provided basic hearing screening without charge during the first year of admission and not less than once every three years thereafter.

Kansas Statutes 72-6242. Basic vision screening required exception; eye examination for conditions impairing reading ability.

(a) (1) Each school board shall provide basic vision screening without charge to every pupil enrolled in each school under the governance of such school board not less than once every two (2) years. All such tests shall be performed by a teacher or some other person designated by the school board. The results of the test and, if necessary, the desirability of examination by a qualified physician, ophthalmologist or optometrist shall be reported to the parents or guardians of such pupils. Information relating to the desirability of examination by a qualified physician, ophthalmologist or optometrist shall not show preference in favor of any such professional person.

Kansas Statutes 72-6251. Annual free dental inspection; exceptions.

The boards of education of cities of the first and second class and school boards of school districts are hereby required to provide for free dental inspection annually for all children, except those who hold a certificate from a legally qualified dentist showing that this examination has been made within three months last past, attending such schools.
