Growth, Development, & Family Life A healthy family is vital to the well-being and successful development of adolescents. Instruction includes the stages of life, changes in relationships with others that accompany social development, the acceptance of self and others, healthy relationships and sexuality, consequences of sexual activity (e.g., personal, legal and economic responsibilities of parenthood), encouragement of abstinence from sexual activity, sexually transmitted diseases (e.g., transmission and prevention), and pregnancy prevention. Information should be factual, medically accurate, and objective.
Idaho Content Standard Health Education K-12 White Paper
White paper states that, "Idaho Education Code 33-1608-1611 includes the home as the primary responsibility for family life and sex education, including moral responsibility. The church and schools can only complement and supplement those Standard established in the family. The local school district will determine the parameters of the program in family life and sex education."
