Administrative Rules of South Dakota 24:53:09:01. Preschool through grade 12 school counselor education program

A preschool through grade 12 school counselor education program shall require a master's degree in school guidance or counseling.

The required courses and experiences of a preschool through grade 12 school counselor education program shall meet the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) Standard, 2016 edition. The program shall be accredited by CACREP or meet the current CACREP Standard to prove compliance even if not officially recognized.

The program shall require candidates to demonstrate the applicable content, pedagogical, and professional knowledge and skills identified in the CACREP Standard and to demonstrate competency on the applicable multiple assessment measures in chapters 24:53:04, 24:53:05, and 24:53:06.
