Indiana Academic Standard For Physical Education 2017: Grade (Pre-) Kindergarten - Grade Five
Physical education in schools provides all students access to a Standard-based sequence of learning which promotes health and physical literacy, as well as the motivation to engage in the healthenhancing physical activity needed to achieve and maintain a balanced, healthy life over a lifetime.

Indiana Administrative Code 511 7-32-74 "Physical education" defined
Sec. 74. (a) "Physical education" means the development of the following:
- (1) Physical and motor fitness.
- (2) Fundamental motor skills and patterns.
- (3) Skills in the following:
- (A) Aquatics.
- (B) Dance.
- (C) Individual and group games and sports (including intramural and lifetime sports)
