This document references the National PE Standars and notes they were carefully considered in developing these Alabama Standard.

The National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) has established broad national Standard for superior physical education programs. These Standard provide the framework for comprehensive physical education programs and identify what students should know and be able to do as a result of participation in a sound physical education program. The NASPE Standard were carefully considered in developing the content Standard within this document that define the physical education curriculum for each K-8 grade level, the required Lifelong Individualized Fitness Education (LIFE) high school course, and the high school elective courses.
