State law addresses providing referrals to private physicians or community health partners.
Utah Administrative Code 384-201-10 Requirements for Referral
(1) A school nurse may rescreen students who fail initial age appropriate school vision screening to confirm results before notification to student's parent or guardian of any impairment disclosed by the vision screening recommending further evaluation by an eye care professional. (2) The LEA shall notify, in writing within 30 days from vision screening, a student's parent or guardian of any impairment disclosed by the vision screening recommending further evaluation by an eye care professional

(8)(a) Except as provided in Subsection (8)(b), a school nurse shall supervise an LEA tier one vision screening clinic as well
as provide referral and followup services.
(b) If an LEA does not have a school nurse to supervise an LEA tier one vision screening clinic, an LEA may, in accordance
with Department of Health rule, use an outside entity to supervise an LEA tier one vision screening clinic.
