State law prohibits the sale, possession, or use of alcohol or controlled substances on school grounds or at school-related events.

Missouri Revised Statutes 160.069 Policy on consequences of possession or drinking alcohol at school or during extracurricular activities

Every school district shall develop a policy by June 30, 2006, detailing the consequences that will result for a student at school if the student is found to be in possession or drinking alcohol either on school property or while representing the school at extracurricular activities.

Missouri Revised Statutes 167.117. Principal, teachers, school employees to report certain acts, to whom, exceptions — limit on liability — penalty

  1. In any instance when a teacher becomes aware of an assault as set forth in subsection 1 of this section or finds a pupil in possession of a weapon or controlled substances as set forth in subsection 2 of this section, the teacher shall immediately report such incident to the principal.
