Oklahoma Administrative Code 210:15-3-143.1 Standard One: Comprehending Concepts in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention

(e) Standard One objectives for Grades 9-12. The following objectives apply for students in Grade 9 through Grade 12:

  • (1) Objective 1. Predict how healthy behaviors can affect health status.
  • (2) Objective 2. Describe the interrelationships of emotional, intellectual, physical, and social health.
  • (3) Objective 3. Analyze how environment and personal health are interrelated.
  • (4) Objective 4. Analyze how genetics and family history can impact personal health.
  • (5) Objective 5. Propose ways to reduce or prevent injuries and health problems.
  • (6) Objective 6. Analyze the relationship between access to health care and health status.
  • (7) Objective 7. Compare and contrast the benefits of and barriers to practicing a variety of healthy behaviors.
  • (8) Objective 8. Analyze personal susceptibility to injury, illness or death if engaging in unhealthy behaviors.
  • (9) Objective 9. Analyze the potential severity of injury or illness if engaging in unhealthy behaviors.

Oklahoma Administrative Code 210:35-3-110 Healthy and Fit School Advisory Committee

School districts are encouraged to inform teachers of students in grades seven (7) through twelve (12) about the importance of incorporating workplace safety training in their curriculum. The Oklahoma Department of Labor has prepared a free “Youth @ Work Talking Safety” curriculum for this purpose, available through the Oklahoma State Department of Education website.

Oklahoma Statutes 70-11-103.6j Workplace safety training information.

A. The State Department of Education, in collaboration with the Oklahoma Department of Labor, shall make available to school districts information regarding workplace safety training for grades seven through twelve. Such information shall include the Oklahoma Department of Labor's “Youth @ Work Talking Safety: A Safety and Health Curriculum for Young Workers”. B. The State Department of Education shall encourage school districts to inform grade-seven through -twelve teachers about the importance of incorporating workplace safety training in their curriculum.

Oklahoma Statutes 70-1210.199. Short title - Dustin Rhodes and Lindsay Steed CPR Training Act.

B. Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year, all students enrolled in the public schools of this state shall receive instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and awareness of the purpose of an automated external defibrillator, in accordance with subsection C of this section, at least once between ninth grade and graduation from high school. The instruction may be provided as a part of any course.
